👓ScannerVR Features
ScannerVR is a simulation system that allows instructors and trainees to understand the complexities of the laser scanning process. The trainee puts on the headset and is then greeted by instructions on how to use ScannerVR. Movement controls and Interaction controls are explained along with the objectives of the experience. The trainee is then dropped into the virtual industrial environment, where they can immerse themselves in the scanning experience.
Environment
The environment was designed to mimic that of an industrial warehouse facility. As real-world facilities are often complex, a single scan cannot cover the location, and multiple scans must be taken. To simulate such an experience, obstacles were placed strategically to ensure that two scans were required to get a complete picture of the environment. The environment was designed to have varying surfaces to simulate real-world environments. Reflective surfaces and moveable areas would mean the user could not place targets on them.
